Where activated carbon is used

The end use sets the grade, and the grade sets what the feedstock must deliver. These notes are context for buyers, not a list of what Kora sells.

Main uses

Gold recovery
Carbon captures dissolved gold in tanks and columns. Buyers define mesh, hardness, attrition, ash, iodine number, adsorption rate and moisture.
Drinking and waste water
Producers list media aimed at taste, odour and PFAS. Standards such as AWWA B604 and EN 12915 are named for drinking water.
Air and gas
Impregnated grades are sold for mercury, odours and biogas clean-up.
Food, drink and pharma decolorizing
Used to remove colour and unwanted compounds from liquids. Each buyer’s own rules apply.
Energy storage
Producers mention supercapacitor and battery-anode uses, an area still developing.

Why this matters for feedstock

A maker choosing shell charcoal wants to know which of these markets it serves. Gold circuits lean on hardness; liquid-phase uses lean on ash. The same charcoal may suit one route and not another, which is why the questions on the feedstock page ask about end use.
