Shell charcoal for activation

This is the only page on the site about something Kora sells. It is charcoal, the input of an activation line. Kora does not activate it and does not sell activated carbon.

Under research, not yet verified · The figures are copied from the main Kora site as read on 20 October 2026. They are limits, not measured results for a lot, and no laboratory report for volatile matter, hardness or size is published.

How the charcoal figures relate to a grade sheet

The terms on a grade sheet, such as iodine number and hardness, describe carbon after activation. The three limits above describe the charcoal before it. They do not predict a grade sheet. They tell you whether the charcoal is a sensible starting point for your own line.

Ash is the one figure that carries across, because ash stays in the grain while carbon is burned away during activation. A charcoal with more ash usually gives a finished product with a higher ash share. Compare it with the ash limit your own customers set.

What to ask for before you choose a lot

  • A sample, and the laboratory report for that lot, with volatile matter, hardness and size spread.
  • Whether fixed carbon, moisture and ash are stated as received or dry.
  • How far one lot differs from the next, and how lots are labelled.
  • Minimum order, loading port and lead time, which are settled at quotation.

Who should write to us

Activated carbon makers, traders who supply them and engineers who are comparing charcoal sources. Say which fineness or lump size your line takes and whether you activate with steam or chemicals. If your question is about activated carbon grades, the glossary on this site answers it, and we will tell you plainly when a question is outside what Kora supplies.

Questions buyers ask

Does Kora sell activated carbon, or only the charcoal before activation?

Kora sells only the charcoal: coconut shell charcoal as lump or milled powder, meant to be activated on your own line. Kora does not make, activate or sell activated carbon, so grade-sheet figures such as iodine number are not available from Kora.

What packing and paperwork come with Kora shell charcoal for activation?

Lump charcoal is packed in jumbo bags. Powder goes in a lined jumbo bag or a 25 kg sack. Kora prints these documents for each shipment: COA, phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin, packing list and bill of lading.

Which shell charcoal properties are still unpublished, and how do I ask for them?

Kora prints no volatile matter, hardness or lump size spread, and no mesh range for powder. Ask sales through the inquiry form or WhatsApp what can be supplied, such as a sample and a lab report for the lot. Minimum order, loading port and lead time are settled at quotation.
